Almerian (Al) Robinson Boileau graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1926. He ranked up from ensign to lieutenant junior grade to commander. He received his wings in 1929. He was involved in Naval Aviation for several years.

Darline "Dottie" Sanders was born in 1918 in Buffalo, NY, and lived Lemon Grove, CA. She earned her private pilot license on May 1, 1949. She and her husband owned a two-place Cessna, Model 140A, 1950 model. She became a member of the San Diego chapter of "The Ninety-Nines" in 1949 and served as secretary, vice-chairman, and chairman of that chapter. In 1961 she formed, and was the first chairman of, the El Cajon Valley Chapter of 99s.

Abstract The Hazel Smothers Personal Papers contains materials relating to Hazel Smothers (1929-), a woman with a long history in private flying. She copiloted her Cessna 172 to a first-in-class finish at the 1969 Powder Puff Derby air race and flew search and rescue missions in her Bell 47 helicopter for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office in the late 1960's and early 1970's. This collection consists of several donations made in 1981 for the Women of Aviation Exhibit at the San Diego Aerospace Museum. It has been added to over the past few decades. It documents the history of women in aviation and includes much information in the Ninety Nines.
